SCCi Alphatrack

Ellenborough Park, Cheltenham Spa

SCCI Alphatrack was commissioned to design, install and maintain a new TV and CCTV system at the Grade II Listed 15th Century boutique hotel, Ellenborough Park Cheltenham Spa.

The Challenge

The Mantis Group approached SCCI Alphatrack to design, install and maintain a new TV and CCTV system at their Grade II Listed 15th Century boutique hotel, Ellenborough Park Cheltenham Spa.

This high-quality venue is situated adjacent to the famous Cheltenham racecourse in the village of Southam, just outside Cheltenham and offers the highest quality service and luxurious accommodations in the midst of glorious Cotswold countryside. Recently renovated, the hotel boasts 62 fully restored and new bedrooms, with suites of up to 700 square foot and one grand suite with private dining room for 12.

The client required a discrete yet powerful and flexible CCTV solution and a new digital TV system that provided both in-room viewing and the ability to control TV/Radio
and A/V content at other locations within the hotel. With the high-quality decor and surroundings, the client did not want the buildings and grounds to be littered with cables and obtrusive cameras.

SCCI Alphatrack was approached as one Europe’s leading providers of TV and Security solutions to Hotel and Leisure venues. Given our extensive experience in delivering these services over IP networks we were quickly able to come up with the perfect proposal for this client and this venue.

The Solution

The proposal involved using the hotel’s Cat5 Local Area Network to run both an CCTV-IP system and a fully integrated IPTV system. SCCI Alphatrack’s role was to design, install, commission and support the two new services over the CAT5 Local Area Network.

The CCTV-IP system installed at Ellenborough Park was designed with a network
of 32 HD day/nightcameras (mixture of internal and external) positioned in key positions around the site to allow maximum visibility of activity in critical areas. The cameras were also colour co-ordinated to blend into their surroundings. The system also incorporates vehicle number plate recognition to log all vehicles entering the
grounds. The IPTV system was installed complete with new aerial and satellite head-end to provide the ability to broadcast numerous terrestrial/satellite TV and radio channels to numerous viewing locations (TVs, screens, PCs, etc.) throughout the building.

The system is also capable of broadcasting an A/V source such as a camera, information display system and individual pay TV or radio channels to a number of viewing locations throughout a building, including display screens and desktop PCs. Guests using the service in their bedrooms have full ‘Hotel TV’ style functionality. Access to content can be easily controlled from a central location, as can the timing content availability.

The CCTV system is monitored, recorded and backed up locally and can also be monitored from any other locations on or off the network via PC.

Conclusion

The system we installed enables SCCI to maintain the system off site and provide first hand support from anywhere in the world via remote log in. By using a single network for both systems, the infrastructure installation time and cost was reduced with on-going maintenance also less costly.

It is also easy to expand should there be any growth to the system. It is far easier to connect a new camera to the nearest access point, rather than running a new cable from the new camera to the control equipment.

This CCTV-IP System was designed to allow communication, administration and Monitoring of several sites from a remote location should the client wish to do this. By using digital cameras, digital images and digital transmission the quality of images is far higher than previous systems were capable of achieving.
