Southend-on-Sea & Cityfibre
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council aim to transform their city into one of the best digitally connected towns in the UK, and is one of the first to benefit from a state-of-the-art full fibre network.
In its pursuit of digital excellence, Southend’s council approached CityFibre with an exciting remit – to create one of the UK’s first Gigabit City networks.
City-Fibre are experts in the build of full fibre networks and have transformed cities across the UK, in turn revolutionising the way we work play and live.
A full fibre network replaces the majority of current “fibre” installations today - which are actually only part fibre, using fast fibre to the cabinet in your street, but switching to slow copper cabling to the property.
Full fibre runs into the home at lightning quick speeds, rendering bottlenecks and buffering a think of the past!
The Project
SCCI Alphatrack was engaged by CityFibre to install superfast broadband to legacy sites, consisting of over 3,000 dwellings.
Work commenced in August 2019, involving the internal cabling in various tower blocks and low-rise buildings around the city, other work included physical infrastructure access (PIA), pole access & new build.
The first customer connection was installed in February 2020.
The Conclusion
Another successful installation – echoed by feedback from the team at Southend Council:
...the blocks at Furzefield and Mussett have been wired to a great standard and all surroundings have been left in great condition with all rubbish either cleaned or swept up on completion.
