Airwave Healthcare Wins Award for Digital Patient Platform at National Rehabilitation Centre
Airwave Healthcare has been recognised at the Building Better Healthcare Awards, winning Best New Patient Portal, App or Service for myCareTV Advanced, the digital platform being deployed at the National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) in Nottingham.
The NRC, part of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, is one of the first UK hospitals designed around the Hospital 2.0 model. Opening in late 2025, it will provide specialist rehabilitation services for patients recovering from complex injuries and illness.
mycareTV Advanced will serve as the primary patient-facing platform at the facility, accessed via iPads at the bedside and in therapy areas. The system integrates multiple functions into a single interface, including entertainment, educational content, secure messaging, video consultations, and meal ordering.
The cloud-based platform is designed to connect with core hospital systems such as electronic health records, ePMA, and therapy scheduling tools. It also links to the Building Management System (BMS), enabling patients to control their room (blinds, temperature, lights etc.) from the terminal.
The implementation is expected to deliver significant savings through improved catering efficiency and reduced food waste; also anticpated is a 20% reduction in routine interruptions to nursing and therapy staff, freeing up time for direct patient care.
The platform's API-enabled architecture allows for future expansion, with the potential to host remote monitoring applications, digital surveys, discharge planning tools, and personalised rehabilitation content.
