SCCI Alphatrack deliver a new gate system to Deering House, in London's Greenwich.
The Development
Deering House is a distinctive, warehouse-style apartment building located in London’s Royal Borough of Greenwich.
Comprising of 56 one, two, and three bedroom apartments, the shared-ownership development offers well-connected accommodations amidst landscaped gardens and far-reaching views.
The Challenge
The existing bifold gates at Deering House were identified as unsafe and difficult to maintain, posing risk and inconvenience for the building's residents and property management.
SCCI Alphatrack (SCCIA) was enlisted to propose a solution to enhance safety, improve reliability, and ensure long-term maintainability.
The Delivery
Following a survey of the existing system, SCCIA proposed a comprehensive upgrade. The approach involved repurposing the existing gate leaves and installing a new, modern automation system.
Key steps included:
Decommissioning and Modification: The existing hinges, operators, and outdated safety equipment were removed. The original bifold gate leaves were reengineered into two new swing gates, preserving the visual character while enabling safer function.
Automation Upgrade: Heavy-duty hydraulic rams were installed for smooth and controlled movement, along with a new control panel to manage gate operations and integrate safety features.
Advanced Safety Systems: A comprehensive safety suite was implemented to eliminate risk, ensuring the system met current safety and compliance standards.
CE Marking and Documentation: Upon completion, the system was CE marked to confirm European safety compliance. The client received full force test results and an operation and instruction manual (OIM)
The Result
Through careful repurposing and modernisation, SCCI delivered a safe, reliable, and fully compliant gate system at Deering House. The upgraded swing gates enhance security, simplify maintenance, and provide long-term peace of mind for residents and management alike.
