Forest Holidays, Delamere Forest

Airwave deliver a guest-entertainment system into partner Forest Holiday's 11th site, located in the largest woodland in England.

The Brand

Part-owned by the Forestry Commission and set exclusively within woodland, Forest Holidays own over 600 cabins across 11 stunning UK locations.

Indeed, if there's a forest in a beautiful UK location, chances are that Forest Holidays run a site there; idyllic settings such as Ardgarten Argyll in Scotland, Bedgellert in Snowdonia and the iconic Sherwood Forest, provide lucky guests with a luxurious retreat, dramatic woodland views and a real connection with nature.

The Site

Set in the midst of the Cheshire Plain, the  Delamere Forest site sits in the largest woodland in England, boasting 972 hectares of wild forest, and featuring broadleaf and evergreen trees, grassy wetlands and an enormous  sandstone ridge.

Forest Holiday's latest development, opening in April 2021, marks the 11th chapter in Airwave and Forest Holidays' partnership.


The Technology

Forest Holidays opted for a full service package, including supply, installation, maintenance and ongoing support services. In keeping with all 2020 and 2021 field projects, Airwave supplied and installed all technology and services in strict accordance with COVID-19 safety protocols, a few weeks ahead of Delamere's April launch.

As with all other Forest sites, Otrum Enterprise was chosen to deliver the in-cabin entertainment experience, and on this occasion, Airwave's design team was tasked to create a new user interface, in line with Forest's new branding.

Otrum's interactive information interface features a number of information pages (including that all-important hot tub safety video), a hospitality certified Chromecast service, Sky HD entertainment, VOD movie streaming APP, Airtime, a full list of radio channels and a number of bi-directional communication services (enabling communication between guests and staff). 

Due to the nature of Delamere's large, sprawling site, the provision of guest maintenance reporting is a particularly useful tool, offering guests a quick and easy vehicle for the reporting of issues within the cabin. 

Other operational efficiencies include the ability to order food and groceries, via an embedded QR code on the in-room TV. The guest simply "points and clicks" at the code with a smart device, and can order from a list of goodies - useful holiday paraphernalia such as disposable BBQs, batteries, card games and an extensive list of groceries - including fresh & frozen, goods, doggy treats and of course, alcohol!

Otrum's IPTV service was implemented on Samsung's latest Tizen hospitality TV platformand as part of a complete solution, Airwave also implemented a guest Wi-Fi portal, offering a choice of free or super-fast premium Wi-Fi access across each cabin.

If 2021 is the year of the staycation, we can think of few better UK locations to spend our time and money...
