Gambier House
SCCI Alphatrack collaborate with the Islington Borouch Council, to deploy 4Fibre technology throughout Gambier House's 20-storeys, and 115 flats.
The Development
Constructed in 1968, the 20-storey Gambier House is one of the tallest buildings in London's Islington, consisting of 115 flats on a triangular site between Mora Street and Lever Street.
The Proposal
SCCI Alphatrack's 4Fibre have teamed up with building owners, Islington Council, to provide access for up to four full fibre internet service providers, over a single fibre infrastructure. This is the partnership's 4th project together, covering over 10,000 council properties in the area.
The project remit was the deployment of a single network, to future ready the block for fibre, whilst minimising the effects on the aesthetics, fire safety and fabric of the buildings.
4Fibre liaised with the freeholder & the resident committee (TMO) to ensure everyone was happy with the intended deployment and works were completed in March 2023.
Using this solution better protects the aesthetics, safety, space & integrity of the building whilst minimising disruption & maximising use of space - by virtue of being installed just once, rather than have multiple operators wiring the building one after the other, as is the traditional alternative.
The Delivery
4Fibre deployed fibre service via two DPs around the scheme – all linked back to one meet me point on the ground floor. Here, up to 4 ISPs can service the building without running further cables through the property. All planning, designing, core drilling, containment, cabling and fire stopping was managed and completed by SCCI, and on completion, the network was fully spliced and tested.
The Conclusion
The project was successfully deployed over a 6-week period, and is due to be rolled out to buildings across the borough, where a single installation of multiple providers is deemed preferable. This deployment is part of a wider programme – providing improved connectivity to the residents of Islington
Our partnership with Islington means these services were introduced to the scheme at no charge to the residents, managing agents or the freeholder.
Our solution was delivered with very little disruption to the residents, future proofing the building and adding desirability and value to the homes within.
