SCCI Group Annual Charity Challenge
In aid of the Chestnut Tree House children's hospice in Arundel, West Sussex, SCCI Group employees walked from Eastbourne to Brighton across the South Downs, 30 miles in total.
On Friday 23rd August 2019, 22 volunteers from the SCCI Group completed the South Downs Marathon, a 30 mile walk from Eastbourne to Brighton across the (very) hilly South Downs, from Eastbourne to Brighton.
Joined by partners Samsung, LG, Philips, Sky and Wifirst, the team of intrepid volunteers set off from a sunny Eastbourne Pier at 7.15AM.
"Sunny" being a bit of a theme in the annual SCCI charity event; last year, we encountered record temperatures as we completed the Three Peaks Challenge (Ben Nevis, Snowdon, Scafell Pike). This year, the temperature was a little more respectable, but still in the high twenties and, unusually for the South Downs, no wind to take the edge off.
Still, despite an eclectic mix of sore feet, hips, achilles heels, hamstrings, calfs. shoulders and an alarming case of sunburn, all 22 members of the team made it to Brighton - an incredible achievement!
A great day was had by all and of course, never too far from anybody's mind was the reason we were doing this in the first place:
The Chestnut Tree House children's hospice in Arundel, West Sussex provides care for over 300 children and young adults with progressive life-shortening conditions. The SCCI Group is honoured to support this wonderful cause. We'd love you to spare a few pennies to help:
